Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to provide innovative solutions to structural issues using cost-effective systems and advanced design and construction practices. The role involves applying international codes and standards practiced in the Gulf region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delegate and monitor design tasks among team members and mentor them.
• Collaborate with executive management in preparing technical proposals.
• Ensure structural designs comply with relevant legislation, codes, regulations, and engineering principles.
• Authorize and sign off on structural design documents.
• Collaborate with other discipline engineers to achieve coordinated engineering designs.
• Assign and analyze workable and constructible structural systems.
• Ensure the strength and stability of designed systems under wind and seismic events.
• Liaise with authorities to obtain required approvals for structural designs.
• Analyze, design, manage, optimize, and monitor diverse structural systems across various sectors including residential, commercial, retail, governmental, educational, hospitals, industrial facilities, and warehouses.
• Supervise and review the design work of junior engineers, including structural drawings.
• Conduct static and dynamic analysis of structures, and prepare structural calculation submittals.
• Handle the submission of offers, follow up on clarifications, and obtain approvals for drawings and material specifications.
• Meet with clients, supervision/inspection teams, and evaluate existing structures in heavy industrial applications.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience in consultancy firms (experience in GCC countries preferred).
• Strong background in using ETABS, SAFE, and SAP (CSI software).
• Seismic design and due diligence experience of at least 10 years in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings (preferred in the Gulf region).

Certifications:

• Member of the Kuwait Society of Engineers and certified Structural Engineer in Kuwait.
• Authorized Structural Engineer at Kuwait Municipality (preferred).

Professional Experience:

• Extensive experience and up-to-date knowledge of international design building codes and standards, mainly American and European codes.
• Experience in analyzing and designing various building types such as residential, high-rise, and mixed-use buildings.
• Basic knowledge of different materials and structural systems applicable to various project types.
• Capable of performing lateral wind and seismic analysis and design.
• Experience working with Revit and BIM 360 environments.
• Experience in large-scale/mega project design engineering.
